Heidi,

What a welcome message for me today! I love the Signs of Hope photos. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed today and for some reason, I decided to drop by your blog since I haven't visited in a while. The Lord must have known what message I needed to hear because your post has certainly lifted me back up and reminded me that I can do whatever I set my mind to. Thanks!

Beverly, not set rule you have to follow everyone. I don't follow those who only have links to their stuff, no conversations with others. Do whatever works best for your style.

I think some follow everyone to get their numbers up, but if there is no interaction, common ground, it is just taking up space, inflated numbers.

Heidi,

You're right! You just have to jump right in and get a conversation started. I was signed up on Twitter several weeks before i actually became "hooked" because I wasn't sure how to do anything but now I can't stop myself :)

As far as following everyone who follows you, I'm still working on that. I'm still trying to figure out why some people want to follow me.

Thanks all! Comments are much appreciated. Angela, I like that, scattering appleseeds, some will fall on fertile soil and produce orchards. I think it is much the same way with my business. Need to scatter more seeds!

Thanks Wendyy for the tweet! I saw that and it is much appreciated. Come Monday I'm back to more of a regular schedule.

Eileen, I'd asked Dean if I could borrow his quote, loved it when I saw it. Been saving it for New Year's.

Now to shatter some glasses and fill the 2009 ones overflowing!

Fantastic message, glorious & impactful images. You never cease to amaze me, Heidi. You indeed stretch for the top . . . & then surpass it.

I grew up in Michigan --- we had a cottage at Lexington, MI --- 20 miles north of Port Huron, MI. I have a picture of my brother and myself standing in front of the EDMUND FITZGERALD --- you can see the name of the ship just over our head. My Mother new a crewmember and we were able to visit it the summer before it went down.

Growing up on the Great Lakes, I did a lot of reseaerch on sunken ships. The Great Lakes can be far more treacherous than most folks realize. If you've never seen the GL, you likely don't understand how large they really are. You can't see land on the other side in most places along the shoreline --- they actually have a surf, just as the ocean does --- and the biggest problem --- the "bathtub effect" has a torsion effect on ships that often destroys them. We could tell ocean ships from Lake ships (once the St. Lawrence Seaway opened) because the Lake vessels had the long center deck which allowed for some flex in the deck of the vessel. The ocean ships looked like "wedding cakes" to us. My first husband was a Merchant Marine for a few years and often spoke of 60 foot waves on the GL.

Sorry to rattle on -- it's a subject that's close to my heart.

I agree that attitude underscores all that we do (or don't do) in life. Thanks for your thoughtful and well written reminder and thanks also for the great quote about shattering the glass and filling it to the brim. The start of the New Year is a great time to shatter!
