The Gift of Great Customer Service

Crazy day, but a good one.

Mornings are always hectic, but this one especially. Drop kids off by 6 AM, again at 6:45 and 7:45. One forgot his physics project, dropped it off 8:30, then quick trip to the store. Before that I was helping Betsy Ross get ready. My youngest is doing a presentation today and they dress as their character all day. Upgraded a blog for someone, while fixing salad. Upgrade complete, salad fixed, pile salad, pies, etc into car and back on the road. I was one of the drop off food spots, as ladies in our church put on a holiday dinner for the staff of a small town nursing home. Brightened their day. Drove back to house, repaired a blog, helped someone get their Christmas cards out. Out the door, more shopping, and get a call that my car is ready!

My days are often like this, still more picking up kids and dropping back off afternoon and evenings. (Note to self, that 16 year old has got to get his license! Christmas break project) But as you can see, my car is very important to me.

Two weeks ago someone made a very wide turn and hit the front of my car. It’s first dent! I even honked, she never saw me, hit me anyway. (Lesson here, if you can’t see out your windshield, stop, don’t keep driving blind!) No one hurt, everything fixable. But this was my first brand new car (I’ve always opted for one a couple years old) it was delivered to my house on a flatbed with only 9 miles on it. Nice present from hubby! Many more miles on the car since.

Drivable, once metal pulled away from wheel well, but had an ugly dent in the side. We have a great auto body and glass shop so I took it there on the way home. Quick, courteous service. a preferred vendor for other driver’s insurance, she did have great insurance. Estimator explained what I could expect, etc. What to do. Make sure I accept the rental car, so I’m not inconvenienced.

When I made it back over to pick up car just before closing, (Interstate backed up from accident somewhere, more delays at rental car place), they were tucking it away in their garage for the night and brought it out.

Beautiful! Just like new! Attention to detail, alignment done too, and shined up my car as an added service. Even the tires shined, cleaned inside and out. And filled it full of gas! Handed me keys, paperwork, and out the door.

Now they could have not added a couple gallons of gas, and they could have chosen not to clean the car. But because they did, and that little bit of added personal touch made my day. I will continue to refer them to others.

Think about your business, what do you do to make your clients feel pampered and special?
